A world class heartbreaker, though through no fault of her own.  She used to have an outfit that resembled a sailor’s uniform and women would stop her in Manhattan and ask her where she got it.   One morning she woke up to find a young woman who was completely smitten sleeping outside her door.  The only reason I knew her was that she was the proverbial preacher’s daughter in my home town.  Besides being beautiful she was very bright and had a wicked sense of humor.  She made her living back then as a legal proofreader and she very kindly taught me the trade, but I could never pass the spelling tests.  She was living with a guy who was very good at credit card fraud and aspired to get a job with the CIA.
