James Fee had a photo lab in our loft building in the 1990’s. I never even met him, but one of my friends in the building would do copy work for him in exchange for prints.  I loved Fee’s technique, and would try to copy it.  This is one of the better efforts, and, yeah, it’s not that great.  But I loved Fee’s very dark take on things, especially of iconic American images.

Below is one of his images of the Statue of Liberty and you can see how much better it is than mine.  Of course, mine is taken in Las Vegas, and I like the idea of mixing the crass cultural appropriation of Vegas with a “serious artist” sensibility.  I don’t think Fee saw it that way, though.
